Tommy DeCarlo, who rose to fame as the lead singer of the band Boston, has passed away aged 60 after a heartbreaking battle with brain cancer.
The rock legendโs family confirmed the news on Monday, writing a touching tribute on social media.
โIt is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026,โ they wrote on Instagram.
โAfter being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end.
โDuring this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our familyโs privacy as we grieve and support one another.โ
Following Tommyโs tragic diagnosis last September, a GoFundMe was established to help his family with the mounting medical bills. On the page, Tommyโs relatives offered further insight into his battle with the disease and the consequent struggles.

โIn late September, Dad suffered a sudden brain bleed and underwent an emergency craniotomy,โ the GoFundMe page reads.
โDuring surgery, doctors discovered two melanoma masses on his brain and another spot on his lungs.
โHe amazed us by recovering from the surgery and beginning treatment, but before he could complete it, he had another brain bleed and was hospitalized from November 27th to December 27th.
โSince then he has completed acute inpatient therapy and is currently back on track with treatments from his oncology team.
โOur Dad is strong. He is a fighter. And heโs giving this battle everything heโs got โ but he needs your help on this one.โ
Tommy became the lead singer of Boston in 2007, taking over from the bandโs original lead singer, Brad Delp, after he died by suicide.
Tommy, aged 42 at the time, was reportedly working at Home Depot when he received a call from band member Tom Scholz inviting him to tour with the band.
Boston, responsible for such memorable hits as More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Amanda, have been around for over 50 years.
Rest in peace, Tommy DeCarlo.
