If you see these painful red bumps, you may have dyshidrotic eczema

Dyshidrotic eczema (pompholyx) is a recurring skin condition, often flaring in spring, that causes small, very itchy blisters on the hands and feet. It’s not contagious but can be chronic and requires ongoing care.

Eczema is a group of inflammatory skin conditions marked by redness, itching, dryness, swelling, and sometimes fluid-filled bumps. It can be genetic or triggered by things like allergens, stress, or weather.

Dyshidrotic eczema specifically causes deep blisters on fingers, palms, and soles, sometimes leading to cracking or painful sores. It’s more common in adults and people with allergies or asthma.

Common triggers include seasonal changes, sweating, irritants (like metals or cleaners), stress, infections, and certain foods.

Treatment (no cure) focuses on control:

Topical steroids, moisturizers, antihistamines
Cold compresses, phototherapy (in severe cases)
Avoiding triggers and not popping blisters
