The first time I heard my daughter scream, something old and broken inside me woke up with its teeth bared. It wasn’t just terror in her voice; it was the echo of my own childhood, the sound I’d buried under degrees, rulings, and a carefully controlled life. Every time I’d told myself she was just tired, just moody, just adjusting to a new school, snapped like brittle glass the moment I saw the bruises she tried to hide beneath long sleeves and practiced smiles.
